David Frum's latest piece about the HCR passage being the GOP's Waterloo is fairly accurate in it's description of the interaction between the right-wing hate mongers like Rush and the actual elected GOP members. Frum writes:
"So today’s defeat for free-market economics and Republican values is a huge win for the conservative entertainment industry. Their listeners and viewers will now be even more enraged, even more frustrated, even more disappointed in everybody except the responsibility-free talkers on television and radio. For them, it’s mission accomplished. For the cause they purport to represent, it’s Waterloo all right: ours."
I believe that the rhetoric from the right-wing hate machine will get worse if that is even possible. I believe it is very important for Democrats at all levels and responsible media to put men like Limbaugh and Beck on notice NOW that they and THEIR ADVERTISERS will be held to account if violence does occur by one of their followers. While these men and their corporate sponsors may never be held legally responsible, they should know that they will be held morally responsible by millions and millions of Americans for their exhortations to violence to their listeners.
