4. To be fair

the same could be said for a large portion of the stock market right now, given it's slow improvement over the past year after the big crash last spring.

Not that I don't think there's a point to be made here - I think this bill benefits no one more than the insurance and other health companies and their stock holders - I'm just afraid that this particular piece of evidence doesn't mean much.

are saying that health care stocks will outperform the market going forward.

5. Starting last Tuesday...

investors started piling money into major Health Care Industry stocks... the reason for mixed trading today is a level of profit taking. Don't confuse mixed trading TODAY for a lack of enthusiasm from the investors.

If the health insurance vultures "hated" this bill the stock would be tanking. Instead they seem "cautiously optimistic" that it will pass!

8. It's the mandate.

Despite all the new regulation, 32 million new, mostly young and healthy customers will actually help the insurance companies somewhat, yes. It's a trade-off, not a punitive attack on insurers. That's been a given from the very beginning of this process, and shouldn't surprise anyone who's been paying attention. Is it everything you or I want in a healthcare overhaul? Not by a long shot. Is it going to improve the lives of a hell of a lot of people in this country? Yes, it is.

43% of Americans will be ineligible for subsidies....

Those forced into non-group plans, the CBO estimates will experience an ACCELERATED rate of premium inflation.

Even those still in group plans, the CBO optimistically forecasts will experience "only" the same astronomical inflation in premiums as would have been expected if no bill had been passed.....This despite the fact that the perennial excuse for price gouging ("We have to gouge the insured to pay for all the uncompensated care for the millions of uninsured") should no longer apply.....Only in a system of no-public-option mandated purchase, with neither effective price controls or competition, would corporate interests be able to continue the predatory pricing upon which these inflated premiums rests.

Grayson's Medicare Buy In would have provided the competition that HCR now so conspicuously lacks.....But it was doomed by the deal the for=profit hospital industry made with the WH.

Grayson's bill still would do that, but our leaders seem to consists of hollow rhetoric.

But without providing the middle class with an option to buy in to a fairly priced system......
