AFP - General Motors' Brazilian subsidiary said Monday it was making a 778-million-dollar investment to modernize and expand two car factories in Sao Paulo state.
The facilities will step up their production capacity under GM Brazil's strategy through 2012 to expand its reach in the South American auto market, said company president Jaime Ardila.
"The plan also allows us to completely renew our portfolio of Chevrolet vehicles in Brazil," Ardila said.
The plant in Sao Caetano do Sul, just outside Sao Paulo city, currently produces seven Corsa models and production in the nearby Mogi das Cruzes factory is geared to auto parts.
