In my line of business (union rep), I have a saying when criticized for my actions. My only defense is the truth.
You see, you can not win a debate, a negotiation or a grievance if all you deal with are wild hypotheticals and conjecture. You end up having to prove a negative, which is nearly impossible. The facts and the truth are your allies in these situations, assuming you're right or, as we say in the business, "on the side of the angels". Thus, this health care bill had to pass. Now, the death panels will not appear, no one will pull the plug on Granny, people WILL NOT lose their doctors and they will not have government bureaucrats getting into their medical decisions. They, or family members, WILL see young adults remain on their insurance plans until age 26. The same can be said for pre-existing conditions for children under 19 and there will be no life time cap by the insurance companies. Is this bill all I wanted? Hell no. But it's a step in the correct direction and one that will show the independents who we court politically, that our opponents are lying fear mongers who are not to be believed or trusted.
