The Onion Is Coming To Television
Wikipedia...The Onion is an American news satire organization. It features satirical articles reporting on international, national, and local news as well as an entertainment newspaper and website known as The A.V. Club. Two juniors at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Tim Keck and Christopher Johnson, founded The Onion (originally published in Madison, Wisconsin) in 1988; the following year, they sold it to Scott Dikkers and Peter Haise, for less than $20,000 ($16,000, according to the Washington Pos; a 2003 Business 2.0 article reported the figure was $19,000.
The New York Times is reporting...
"The Onion, the satirical news organization that broke the fake story that the smoke monster from “Lost” would receive its own spin-off series and cheekily reported that television critics who praised “The Wire” had never seen the show, is itself headed to the small screen.
On Monday, the Independent Film Channel announced that it was developing a television series based on The Onion, the fake weekly newspaper and Web site, as part of a comedy-heavy slate of new programming that also features the “Arrested Development” alumni David Cross and Will Arnett, and the Canadian comedy troupe the Kids in the Hall.
