3. Immigration reform has long been scheduled for the next big push.
There's Dodd's big financial reform coming up for a vote soon. And several more jobs bills in the pipeline.

But immigration reform's going to be where the real focus is at.

With a little kabuki theater, they can probably even get a fair number of Democrats to cheer for it, too.

11. Until the cancer of the DLC is completely eradicated, all further attempts at "reform" are useless.
Because, as we have just seen, even when some slight degree of "reform" results from their corrupted process, it only comes at all if accompanied by huge rewards for the criminal bastards who caused the problem in the first place.

Apply this "health care reform" to education, and we'll end up with an entire nation of "charter" schools run by the likes of David Horowitz and Pat Robertson.

Apply this standard to "financial reform" and your local credit union will end up as subsidiary of the "Federal" Reserve.

Apply this to energy reform.... well we're already seeing the lies of "clean" coal and "safe" nuclear energy being spewed around here.

More false reform? No thanks. :puke:

18. Yeah. Why would the Fierce Advocate bother himself with civil rights for the LGBT community?
How many back burners ARE there on his stove, anyway?

It saddens me that at a place like DU, someone whom I respect and who has the world "liberal" in their screen name, would create such a poll and fail to include civil rights for LGBTs.

30. Climate Change bill HAS a lot of jobs in it - sustainable jobs that will MATTER.
Add a workforce focusing on infrastructure while environmental projects create a whole other growing industry and this presidency will succeed like no other presidency in modern history.

along with the bailouts.

It would have bought 308,396,946 People with Health Care for One Year. Divide that up over the years since 2001.
Instead, thanks to our priorities we have a lot of dead human beings both here and abroad. Thousands upon thousands abroad. Unconscionable thousands yearly, here.

34. They need to have massive reform for Wall Street and regulate it.
Repeal all the deregulation since the Reagan era. Also, campaign finance reform should be a part of that as well.

Then, I'd move onto Environment and Education reform. We need green jobs to power America in the future and a good education for our children so they can succeed.

In between, I'd have social legislation like repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

Also, the deficits are a big problem, but you can fix that with a progressive tax and legalizing drugs and taxing the shit out of them.

44. Those were never in the "wait until after health care is passed" camp.
Those other 3 are decades ahead of GLBT rights anyhow, but I get the idea. It was a lie, as always. When all those other things are passed and we live in a liberal utopia and we colonize Titan, after Mars has it's billionth child born, then we can repeal DADT and let the f*ggots marry just to shut them up.

40. Immigration reform.
Even a few Republicans are in favor of immigration reform, and almost all the Democrats are.

Also, this will get the extreme wingnuts into a frothing rage, and we can use that to make the entire GOP look bad (we'll be seeing white sheets coming out...)

It will also help bolster the Latino vote, and other minorities will get fired up - it's red meat for our base.

Overall, immigration reform is a great issue for driving wedges to get the GOP fighting themselves, and getting our own people motivated.

45. Immigration reform would be nice. And an ENDA passage if they can pull it off.
Not sure what they can do about the economy. I guess more stimulus can't hurt, but whether it's politically doable is another question: the (wrong) public perception is that the first one failed.
