LINCOLN, Neb. --
A researcher at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has a theory about the troubles facing Toyota. He thinks the safety issues plaguing the Japanese automaker may be related to cosmic rays.

A Lincoln Toyota Prius owner said he’s not worried about the malfunctions in his car.

And one teacher says he’s not listening to an excuse from a student who said he lost his term paper when his computer crashed due to cosmic rays. “I think if my students said that to me, I would probably laugh at them. That’s why you back things up,” said Jacob Friest.
