For those who were interested, re daughter's eye "problem"....

she is fine, took her to urgent care, she has a cut on her cornea (how she got that we don't know) the thing with the pupils the doc said was muscle spasms from discomfort of the cut.

Now for the ordeal of having her treated...first we went to the hospital closest to us, a "christian" hospital urgent care who first thing asked for insurance card. We told them she had no insurance , they then wanted $120 up front BEFORE they even asked her name.When she told them she didn't have that much, they said "sorry there's nothing we can do for you"
We then went to the hospital/urgent care on the other side of town. They took her in, treated her and didn't say ONE word about money or insurance until we were on our way out. We told them the same thing, they said they would try to run it through on my insurance, end of story.
I have no idea what would have happened if we only had the first and oldest hospital here and I don't know what will come with the health care issue, I DO know we need SOMETHING done!

4. I have cut my eye during my sleep before. With the sheet I think? Or pillowcase? I don't know?

Might have even been a fingernail? Only once but it woke me up it hurt so bad.

I hope she gets feeling better soon.

5. Yeah, those corneal abrasions really do hurt...

and the pain builds until you get some painkiller in the eye(eyedrops). Had that happen once...took about 4 hours to be seen, relief was almost instantanious, but both eyes were bright red.

ER made me an appointment with an opthamologist for the next day. No idea how the injury happened.

7. I can testify- a bad abrasion or laceration feels like a shard of glass

riding around under your lid every time you blink. I had this injury decades ago
and it still plagues me on occasion in the early morning before I can even open my eye.
I've been told by more than one eye specialist it's a shingles-like condition in which the
cell layers in my case never re-healed properly to lie back down smoothly.

The natural tears and lubricants do help the episodes go away quickly and probably most
people don't have recurrent problems like I have. My sympathies, though. It's no fun!
