From the bottom of my heart, my deepest apologies to: Elijah Cummings, James

Clyburn, Emanuel Cleaver and John Lewis.

The fact that these civil rights icons were assaulted, spat upon and called epithets in the seat of our democracy, the halls of Congress, on Saturday, should be a source of painful humiliation to all Americans. This is so disgraceful, so unforgivable, that it should be punished. There is no question.

Even though we had a fantastic victory this weekened with Health Care, I am hoping fellow DUers are as appalled by the mistreatment of these great Americans, great Democratic politicians, that they may join me in writing to complain that those responsible for this digrace were not detained for their crimes and punished. This went way, way beyond free speech.

Thanks for at least reading this post.

1. Their treatment was an embarrassment to this country....Sadly, the very existence
of such a group as the "Teapartiers" is an embarrassment.

5. Unbelievable.
Of course, I'm sure the media outrage generated will be nothing compared to the spasms of rage generated when Moveon made a dumb pun with Gen. Petraeus's name.

Because, you know, that was REALLY offensive. :eyes:

6. Yes, absolutely, the Brilliant Barney Frank was derided as a "Fag." It is so shameful
I don't know where to begin or what to suggest at this point. I wish I were more optimistic. Barney Frank is very, very brilliant when it comes to trying to configure a system to reform our banks.

8. It upsets me so much
I don't know what to do, I feel helpless. I want to write them to apologize. It's been on my mind since I read about it. Shameful '60s crap that I never wanted to experience again. Hateful cretins. Dana ; )
