EVERYBODY knows "someone"
Edited on Wed Mar-24-10 10:46 PM by SoCalDem
This is what may eventually "save" democrats in November...

IF they play their hand well.

.......................................
The ad plan should be "this is what the new law entitles you to NOW..

Republicans don't want you to have ANY of it.
.........................................

They want to spend money on tax cuts for their wealthy benefactors

the new health care law may not have "everything", BUT it definitely has more than anything republicans have ever backed.

They NOW claim to have all kind of plans", but they never lifted a finger to accomplish anything when they held power & the majority.

Know someone with a kid between 18-26?

Republicans don't want that kid to be able to stay on Mom & Dad's insurance plan

Know anyone on medicare , who gets medicine with Part D?

Republicans think having them fall into the "donut hole" is just fine.
.........................................

There are a lot of other issues too, but these two should be easy for every democrat to pound home..

1. I hope the Democrats are thinking the same way you are...
Those are excellent talking points, and they need to be shouted loud and long.

2. What proportion of Californians
knew a gay or lesbian person in 2008 when they voted for Prop H8?

Just because you know someone who would benefit from a law doesn't mean you will automatically support that law. Even if that law takes away nothing from you, while giving something to someone else.

3. Probably everyone, BUT the way california words our dumbass propositions
created a lot of the problem.. Sometimes voting NO, is actually an affirmative vote..and vice versa.

I recall reading that after the election, many people complained that they thought they were voting one way..and because of the deceptive wording, they voted the opposite..

the "someone"s in my OP, are actually EVERYONE.. and within their own families..

every dollar that goes to Granny , via medicare & SS, is a buck the FAMILY does NOT have to cough up..

and when a 25 yr old has a car accident, the family will usually have to step up & put out some money so they can get decent care....

4. I don't live in California
and have only visited there once, but are you saying that the campaign against Prop H8 just didn't make itself clear as to which choice to make if you support equality? That seems hard to believe.

5. Only the very "invested" people even bother to look at their sample ballots
I know it sounds odd, but it's the way it is..

Many people go into the voting booth and see the perverse wording on props and cannot figure out what they are saying..

many people don't even vote on them and some just guess..
