TN tea party rally demands rejection of health-care law

Tea party activists from across the state, buzzing with talk of tyranny and socialism, gathered Wednesday to protest health-care reform and demand that Tennessee reject it.

"Now it's time to start the fight at the state level," Roane County Tea Party leader Gary Armstrong said at a small rally on War Memorial Plaza near the Capitol. "It's time for us to tell the government to back the hell off in no uncertain terms."

The protesters gathered a day after President Barack Obama signed health-care reform into law. The law, to be phased in over several years, will require most Americans to buy health insurance or pay a penalty and is expected to add some 32 million people to the insurance rolls.

Supporters have called the law the most far-reaching piece of U.S. social legislation in generations and a long-needed expansion of the social safety net for Americans with limited financial resources.

Partly because of the skewed polls. I just received a poll from Zogby which asked if I was "satisfied" with the health care bill. I had to honestly answer no. However, the poll did not ask me why I'm dissatisfied, so I am going to be lumped in with the Tea Partiers, for whom I have nothing but disgust and contempt.
