Isn't it a health "law" now; not a bill?

The President signed the bill and now it's law, as I understand it. The news organizations are all getting it wrong when they state that republicans want to repeal the 'bill'. It's a 'law' now that they want to overturn.

The GI Bill comes to mind. :shrug:

Although they're usually called 'Acts' after passage.

But for shorthand, you could call it the Health Care Reform Act (not Law) of 2010.

The technical name is Affordable Health Care for America Act of 2010.

Just like:
Clean Air Act
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (stimulus bill)

The reason is the Act actually contains hundreds if not thousands of laws. Even more most of the power comes from regulations which will be passed.

The media might be right talking about a "bill". The reconciliation bill is still alive. What Obama signed was the exact Senate version of bill. House changes won't be law until reconciliation bill passes both houses and is signed.
