Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) told The Hill that he thinks Democratic lawmakers are feeding the public’s frenzy over the threats they’ve received by discussing them so openly with the media.
“I don’t believe that we ought to be fanning these flames like this,” he said in an interview. “And I’m very concerned on all sides. Inappropriate behavior is never condoned by anyone. I’m a bit concerned about how it’s been handled around here in a public way because I think it just tends to fan the flames.”

Someone fired shots outside the office of U.S. Rep. Eric I. Cantor’s office in Richmond either this week, his office said today.
Word of the gunfire near the Republican’s Richmond office comes a day after it was revealed that someone had cut a gas line to a propane grill at the home of the brother of U.S. Rep. Tom Perriello, D-Ivy.
"We do know that there were shots fired earlier this week," said Megan Whittemore, Cantor’s deputy press secretary. The shots were fired late Monday or early Tuesday, she said.
The gunfire triggered the office’s alarm and an incident report was filed immediately. Richmond police are investigating.
"There is an ongoing investigation," Whittemore said...

Rep. Eric Cantor says this afternoon that a gunshot was fired through a window of his downtown Richmond campaign office building either last night or two nights ago.
There were no injuries or other details immediately reported. Cantor, in an interview with the Richmond Times-Dispatch, said he doesn’t know whether the shot was random or aimed at the building.
He said he doesn’t know if anyone was in the building when the shot was fired. Richmond police are investigating, he said.
In Washington, Cantor said at a news conference that he has also received threatening e-mail, The Associated Press reported.
Cantor, in Washington, attributed the actions to his being in the House GOP leadership and being Jewish.
