A small observation about the RW rationale for the recent thuggery.
Edited on Thu Mar-25-10 01:31 PM by EFerrari
The RW is trying to pretend their viewpoint is the majority viewpoint.

They are claiming that these "protests" (which is crime, not protest) are some kind of natural consequence of the Democrat's throwing their weight around on the insurance bill and against the wishes of the majority of Americans.

(I'm watching Thom and his guest Matthew Vadum from Capital Research Center, is spewing this.)

In fact, these thugs do NOT represent the majority. Most Americans WANTED health care reform. Most Americans are not ANGRY about this bill. They wanted it go to further than it did with respect to government management and regulation.

In fact, these domestic terroristic attacks are not spontaneous but most of them seem to have been co-ordinated by one wingnut who is himself a recipient of socialistic Social Security benefits -- after being suggested and egged on by prominent "conservative" Republicans such as Palin, Bachmann, Demint, Rush, and poor crazy Glen Beck.

In fact, Americans don't believe that we solve political or policy disputes with bricks and anonymous calls that threaten children or by spitting on civil rights leaders or by shouting slurs at our elected officials.

These violent people do not represent most Americans. But they say they do -- in the way a bully threatens to get his bigger older brother to beat you up when he knows he is in the wrong and he is losing the argument.

Don't let them get away with this unreality. And if you can, listen or watch Thom's segment with this guy, because Thom did a beautiful job with him.

2. Afterthought: And these lying jack@sses are arguing
that because the majority of Americans agree with them, which is patently untrue, their violence justified.

Even if the majority of Americans DID agree with them, that is no justification for thuggery.

They are essentially hiding behind the skirts of America to deflect responsibility for their anti-social behavior.

3. They represent Dick Armey BIG k*r
Excellent points. What a bunch of goof balls. They'd be entertaining if they were not truly
dangerous. Something bad will happen. Too many people have too much absurd, inflammatory
information rattling around. Bad bad news.

4. K&R These are the same hooligans who shouted down the town halls last year
and because the media covered it wall to wall it was made to appear as if the whole of America was up in arms and destroyed any possibility of discussion in the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_sphere">public sphere. This is their MO, be loud and violent to get attention and somehow, even though they are the minority, attempt to persuade everyone they are the majority.

This results in sucking the life out of any possibility of rational discourse.

My homespun theory is that these nutjobs' ancestors were participants in the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Great_Awakening">1st and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Great_Awakening">2nd "Great Awakenings" and generations later we are witnessing their legacy.
