Santorum making early moves for presidential run

Rick Santorum is headed to Iowa.

Washington (CNN) – Former Sen. Rick Santorum is planning his second trip to Iowa in less than a month, fueling further speculation that the Pennsylvania Republican is seriously eyeing a run for the White House in 2012.

Santorum, who served for two terms before losing re-election in 2006, will speak at a Pottawattamie County Republican Party lunch on March 30. Earlier this month, Santorum, a favorite of social conservatives, addressed the Iowa Christian Alliance.

Santorum has acknowledged that he is interested in running for president, and appears to be taking the steps to be seen and heard in the early proving grounds of Iowa, South Carolina and New Hampshire.
