**Breaking** American Enterprise Institute fires Frum

As predicted the civil war in the Republican Party has begun with serious critics unhappy with the off the cliff strategy that is being championed by the extreme right wing entertainment pundits and followed by Republican congressional leadership.

Frum stripped this strategy bear in his editorial pointing out that the Health Care bill passage was the Republicans Waterloo not Obama's.

Unsurprisingly the right wing "Think Tank" AEI has wasted no time in purging Frum. It makes you wonder what the ramifications will be for a think tank that takes its marching orders from Rush Limbaugh.

After criticizing Republican Party leaders for their total opposition to President Obama's health-care plans, former Bush speechwriter David Frum announced that his relationship with the conservative American Enterprise Institute think tank was terminated.

I have been a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute since 2003. At lunch today, AEI President Arthur Brooks and I came to a termination of that relationship.

Below is the text of my letter of resignation.

Dear Arthur,
This will memorialize our conversation at lunch today. Effective immediately, my position as a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute is terminated. I appreciate the consideration that delays my emptying of my office until after my return from travel next week. Premises will be vacated no later than April 9.

I have had many fruitful years at the American Enterprise Institute, and I do regret this abrupt and unexpected conclusion of our relationship.

edited to add - this is technically a forced resignation done by Frum to maintain some benefits, probably included a few months pay as incentive. The last sentence clearly indicates it is a firing and that's how it is being perceived:

I wouldn't say that Frum was "preaching moderation to the Republican Party", but instead encouraging the elites to take more control over the fringe. His position isn't about moderation, it's about a strategy that isn't violent and batshitcrazy and it's the only time I've ever agreed with him.

Running on pure hate has absolutely NO chance against social progress. This hate unifies republican opposition and the social progress brings in new voters who were once ambivalent to politics. The teabaggers have a losing strategy.
