Spot on analysis on Smirking Chimp...
A friend of mine and my old Editor at the Alternative Magazine he ran back in the 90's, writes a spot on take of the Dem's voctory...

http://smirkingchimp.com/thread/larry_durstin/27546/thank_you_senator_brown

Like a thief in the night, Scott Brown seemed to have stolen any Democratic hopes of health care reform with his surprising victory in January's contest to fill Ted Kennedy's Senate seat. Republicans and pundits alike pronounced it the turning point in the health-care debate and the canary in the coal mine signaling the end of the Democratic majority in Congress and possibly any hopes of an Obama second term.

It was the turning point, all right, but it was the turning point that freed the Democrats from their 60-vote majority shackles and the corresponding delusional pursuit of bipartisanship that found them somehow groveling at the feet of the loathsome Joe Lieberman; licking the boots of walking-corpse Ben Nelson; and playing a wimpy game of footsie with the seemingly perpetually constipated Olympia Snowe -- all in hopes that joining forces with this grisly group would result in legislative salvation

Read the whole piece. It really takes an alternative look at the Dem's victory on Health Care and really sheds some different light on the whole developing situation.

1. That is most excellent!
He writes extremely well, and makes his numerous points gracefully. No wonder he's won prizes...

Thank you for this!

2. I would say HCAN and OFA
It takes more than rallying people for a week to claim to be the catalyst behind a political victory.

3. He's good
It's good to be reminded of 1994. We can't let that happen again.

4. Must read
it turned out that Kennedy's Massachusetts Senate seat proved to be instrumental in making that a reality.

5. k/r
Couldn't agree with him more. I also think - just think . . . The economy and job situation will be different. In Q4 last year Luxury Goods sales were up - it looks like another uptick is trending for Q1 2010. Is that the best/only indicator of a change? No. But I have a friend in Philly that is a corporate recruiter that has stated - it's turning around. Her problem? People remember the lay off at XYZ company LAST year and are hesitant to jump into that company/job/position. I don't think it's going to 'perfect' - but I do think we'll see a turn during this summer. Jobs plus health care equal a huge loss for Republicans/TEA Partiers in this election.

They have been banking on a Democratic Failure. That Failure? It's not happening. So they lose.
