CNN Joins the Tea Party?
Edited on Sun Mar-28-10 12:34 PM by Oilwellian
I just completed and published a new video CNN Joins the Tea Party?. While America was focused on the push to pass health care reform, CNN pulled a fast one. They hired Erick Erickson, the owner of Redstate.com, a blog that supports and encourages the Tea Party activists and their revolution. He wasn't just hired to give an opinion as we see with most political advisors on cable news. Erickson will be appearing on John King's USA show, 5 days a week. Fortunately, because of the Tea Party unrest we've been witnessing over the past couple of weeks, CNN has been easing Erickson into the show, at least until the tensions die down. We'd like to put a stop to CNN's efforts to legitimize the Tea Party and giving it a national microphone on a major cable news network.

If you Twitter on a regular basis, then you know my good friend Shoq who is a leader of the progressive dialogue there. He helped me produce this video to bring attention to what CNN has done, and educate people about Erick Erickson's agenda. Shoq wrote:

The right has screwed up this nation too thoroughly for us to just acquiesce to CNN giving a platform to the latest overrated stooge of concorporate hegemons. As the past few years have proved, they own or control most of this nation where it counts, and even when progressives score gains (as we just did with Health Care Reform), there is still a huge question mark hovering over the future of the United States. A recovering economy will not mask the near-kleptocratic nature of what our modern predatory-capitalist-system-run- amok has become.

Through one of many proxies like Redstate, the corporate and conservative elites use massive private funding networks to distribute professionally crafted propaganda masking as "grass roots" efforts.

Their work is designed to prey on the emotions and fears of an almost fundamentalist fervor amongst the ignorant Teahadist soldiers they are whipping up across the nation. The primary goal is to convince these gullible—or just rich, mean, racist, or stupid—people, that the administration that inherited the burden of fixing the economic malaise they created, are actually the people who caused them in the first place. And when you have a 24 hour news channel (Fox News) devoted to such efforts, it's really not all that hard to sell such foolishness to the proles.

This professionally-crafted and marketed lying has gone on far too long—and it's wrecking this nation. And yet, as I type this, the US Chamber of Commerce is gearing up to spend more millions of dollars in local elections. Precisely the kind of spending secured with the kind of right-wing propaganda that HumanEvents, Redstate, and Erick Erickson represent (often literally).

My video is embedded on Shoq's blog and you can watch it there. It can also be seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85uTvVTq6c8#
Please take the time to go Shoq's blog and you will find many links to stories published about Erick Erickson and his owners. There's also
a link to the efforts on Facebook to "Dump CNN" or, you can write CNN and ask what they were thinking when they decided to hire this schmuck:

1. CNN & teabaggers
I was also miffed that on Sat, march 27 CNN made a big deal about Palin's visits. Your expose' of CNN hiring teabagger entities shows
they are now in bed with them.
What is even more disturbing is right here on the DU.
When you login, there is a google ad from Mark neuman for Gov/Wisconsin,
telling viewers to opt-out of obamacare.
So, does the DU allow or make money from this??????

4. I have Google ads on my own sites. The site owner has nothing to do with
choosing which ads appear. The ads are selected automatically, based on the words that appear on the page. If the page has a lot of references to Obama and his health care plan, then any ad in their lineup that deals with those things will show up on that page. That is why political sites often end up with ads that are from the opposition.

6. Two searches reveal CNN
Search "CNN Tea Party"
Search "CNN 2003 Iraq protest"

If you don't want to waste time confirming what we already know, here's the single Iraq result:

(Pictures removed)

The "Tea Party" results are far too many to paste here.

They are RNC/Wall Street stooges.
Nothing more.

7. I had posted about him last month. I saw an interview today on CNN Howard Kurtz Show
Edited on Sun Mar-28-10 12:59 PM by 1776Forever
Reliable Sources where he interviewed this nut job. You can get a transcript later on next week at this link:

http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/reliable.sources/

Scroll to the bottom of the page. I think what you stated is exactly facts that CNN has totally went over to the Tea Bag policy and this is one of their biggest spoke persons! What he said today and admitted to on Reliable Sources was unbelievable and he should be fired immediately as a credible source! I thought Howard Kurtz did an excellent job interviewing him and Mr. Erickson did not shy away from any of it! Media Matters reported this:

Erick Erickson will fit in nicely at CNN
March 18, 2010 10:25 pm ET by Jamison Foser

http://mediamatters.org/blog/201003180077

At first, I was surprised CNN would hire Erick Erickson despite his long record of misogynist comments. Erickson has, after all, called Michelle Obama a "harpy" and used the Limbaugh-esque pejorative "feminazis" and suggested feminists are "too ugly to get a date" and told "Ugly feminists" to "return to their kitchens." That doesn't seem like the kind of commentary the self-styled "most respected name in news" would favor, does it?

Then I remembered Alex Castellanos. Castellanos is a CNN contributor and Republican consultant most famous for creating the infamous race-baiting "Hands" ad for Jesse Helms. He's used his perch at CNN to defend calling a woman a "bitch" and to compare Hillary Clinton to Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction and to mock Nancy Pelosi's physical appearance.

And, of course, it was CNN's Headline News that first brought Glenn Beck to cable news.

So maybe Erickson won't be out of place at CNN after all.

..........

And they tout themselves as the "The Most Trusted Name in News" and "CNN = Politics" "The Best Political Team on Television" - Yeah right!

:silly:

8. You're certainly on top of the issue
I missed the Kurtz interview, darn it. Shoq has been pressuring Kurtz all week and I think other CNN professionals are worried Erickson will make THEM look bad. ROFLMAO! And he freaking will! CNN is a mess right now!

10. CNN - Clearly Not News or Conservative News Network
I haven't watched them in years and don't see why anyone else still does.

Also, Erick Erickson has another blog, a state one (Georgia), where he spouts off his brand of crazy for the locals - www.peachpundit.com

I keep track of him there and the rest of the loonies.

11. Sadly, soon the teabaggers will go too far, someone will get hurt
and CNN will slink away from their new-found friends.

15. 'THEY' control the media. 'THEY' set the agenda. They are aliens.
It used to be the Blacks, then it was the Jews, then the Jews became their 'allies' and it became anyone of Middle-Eastern decent, then the 'waves' of illegals crossing the border threatened their very existence so they tried walls and militia, now it's the fault of Liberals.

They hate, it's that simple. And right now, we are their target because they KNOW they were screwed but they can't blame themselves for the past only blame US FOR THE FUTURE.
