Money bag to go: Police say would-be robbers called bank ahead of time for cash in US
Published: Wednesday, March 24, 2010 | 9:19 AM ET

Canadian Press THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Police in Connecticut say they had ample warning of a bank robbery because the two suspects called the bank ahead of time and told an employee to get a bag of money ready.

Police arrested 27-year-old Albert Bailey and an unidentified 16-year-old boy on robbery and threatening charges Tuesday afternoon at a People's United Bank branch in Fairfield.

Sgt. James Perez says the two Bridgeport residents showed up about 10 minutes after making the call and were met by police in the parking lot. Perez told the Connecticut Post the suspects were "not too bright."

It's not clear if Bailey and the teen have lawyers.

1. Teabag rallies on Saturday, bank robberies on Sunday. So predictable.

2. I heard about this.
Amazing how incredibly stupid these guys were. "Not too bright" is an understatement.

Edited on Sun Mar-28-10 05:51 PM by KittyWampus
that had his name on the back.

A guy locally broke into the corner bar on his birthday after closing and pocketed the money under the counter and then proceeded to get so drunk he passed out on the floor where he was found the next morning...

4. OK everybody, good advice right there.
*Note to self: Make sure not to call ahead to potential victims of any crime I might think of doing.

I suppose that surprise thingy might help.

9. Actually it is good idea to call ahead. You have an appointment and they know to have it ready.
Let them all know it is very very important to follow this procedure. Otherwise, someone else might get it before they do.
