Traitorgate Collateral Damage: Cathie Martin forced to tear down curtain, reveal The Wizard...
Edited on Tue Jan-30-07 10:46 AM by johnfunk
Alan Bisbort explains it all...
In case you missed it, Cathie Martin, Cheney’s former communications director, admitted on the witness stand at Lewis Libby’s perjury trial that the best way to respond to the accusations that the Bush administration had misled Congress and the nation into going to war with Iraq was to book her boss on Meet the Press. “Chatty” Cathie said that the advantage to doing this is that Cheney would be able to “control the message” (read: lie constantly without being called on it). She admitted, “I suggested we put the vice president on 'Meet the Press,' which was a tactic we often used. It's our best format.”

1. Thank you, Dick Cheney.
You have freed us from the bondage of the Sunday morning news programs. We now know, thanks to your brutal honesty, what we have long suspected but only just this week had corroborated. That is, these shows are part of the Big Lie, part of what was once quaintly called the “Vast Right Wing Conspiracy” (VRWC).

2. Surprise, surprise. Timmy boy is a tool of the WH! A shill. He should be proud.
I must say, he seemed a tad withdrawn this past Sunday. He wasn't himself. Could it be because he's been exposed as a tool?;)

4. Russert's biggest worry is that he won't get to say what he wants.
He seems to be interested only in his own question count, posing questions and then accepting any sort of bullshit answers in the mad dash to get to his next question.

The big disappointment, for me, is that he doesn't smell bullshit and stop right there, drill down to the bottom of it, wherever it leads, and make sure any unfounded assertion does not go unchallenged.

Perhaps that would be unwieldy, in the eyes or corpmedia, because it might turn the talk show into one long argument, but what the hell should the host be about?
I should think they would be about challenging the powerful and not simply giving them a megaphone-ala MTP-to assist in their control of the public.

What's particularly puzzling and concerning about a supposedly "intelligent" talking head, when they are challenged on this, is that they are genuinely puzzled that anyone would believe this of them. They actually think they are doing a good job!
