Not. I've been thinking back on all that transpired in the health care reform debate. Do people remember when Olympia Snowe was trying to convince people that she supported a public option, so long as it was triggered? Yet, she votes against a bill without any public option whatsoever, without a Medicare buy-in, and without any of the other things she was supposedly concerned about. Then, when the bill becomes law, she votes against a sidecar bill that removed some of the most egregious pieces of the original bill.

I'm really glad that Obama took her football away from her once and for all and never gave it back.

1. A small Senator from a small state. She should have been read the riot act months ago.

4. There are some really wealthy folk up there. Lot's with off shore accounts...
and weird tax things going on. It's the summer home of some serious international power people. I'm sure the ladies are bought and paid for and the less affluent locals benefit from the whole deal.

16. When you basically own towns and you have enough money...
to run them well and everyone works for you and they are happy....you get to decide who wins what. A lot of Maine is basically a resort. Check out who owns property in Kennebunkport sometime.

3. Stood against Jim Inhofe she's the better soul but when some integrity
and clarity were required Senator Snowe was nowhere to be found.

I'm disappointed in her.

5. What about all the Dems against a public option?
Do they get any share of the blame? Not that I'm a fan of Snowe, but hey, she's a 'Pug, doing what a 'Pug's gotta do. But the Dems, why let them off the hook so easy?

6. Ms.Snowe is mistress of the arts ecdysial
She prances alluringly across the stage, shedding one veil after another, promising Democrats the most maddening delights. Then ZIP she disappears behind the curtain just as the last veil is about to fall.

and she peddled right-wing talking points to the astonishment of Andrea Mitchell. And even after Andrea corrected her, she repeated her talking points as if she didn't even hear Mitchell.

Disgusting!! :puke::puke:

10. She 'turned out' to be what she always was
The waste of time came from delusional leadership that seemed to think she was not a corrupt Republican. All that seeking bipartisanship simply failed to generate so much as one solitary vote. That damns the GOP, but also the idiots who wasted precious time expecting a dog to meow.

17. Get over it; she was used as a patsy by the President, who lied about wanting a PO AS WELL.
She was either a callabo or a stooge in this. But the will to blame leads so many of you to ignore the fact that the President himself was against the inclusion of PO of any kind. :hi:

18. That was stunning to me
I really thought that once the Democrats had the 60 votes that she would vote for it. I had watched her on the Finance committee and could not remember anything - still in the bill - that would have been an obvious deal breaker. I remembered the vote to get it out of committee (that was not a deciding vote) where she spoke of not wanting to be on the wrong side of history.

Then, after that, I STILL was surprised when she said she would not vote for reconciliation.

What it does signal is the tight party discipline where they want to be able to say - it was not us - when people complain about the plan.
