Uma Thurman Movie Closes After Taking £88

Hollywood actress Uma Thurman's latest movie has closed in the UK after just 11 people turned up to see it on its opening weekend.

Motherhood, a film about a stressed-out mum, only managed to gross £88 for its opening weekend.

The flick, which also features Brit Minnie Driver and two-time Oscar-winner Jodie Foster, did badly in America as well, taking just over £40,000 when it opened last September.

Metrodome, the firm responsible for marketing the film, said it believed the DVD would do better than the cinema release, according to The Times.

Much as I dislike the Republican party it's hardly their fault that the producers were too clueless to market it properly. Good grief, I've organized a few hundred paying customers to a no-budget 'film festival' (rent cheap theater, guilt everyone you know into coming out to support it) and I'm one of the most introverted people I know.

I mean seriously, publicists and advertising exist for a reason...

12. Some movies just are not up to giganto-big-box-office business

the entertainment-dollar is pretty pinched right now..everywhere. A "small movie"..especially a "woman's movie" just may be better suited to HBO or Showtime..or even Lifetime.

Movies used to be a relatively inexpensive date or evening out, but no more. People will not just randomly go to a movie anymore.

Minnie Driver-Jodie Foster-Uma Thurmon are not "hot-babes"..and they are not Meryl Streep either. They are all entering the "character-actress" phase of their careers, and as painful as it must be for them, apparently, they better hope they all have plenty of money saved.:(

I love Tarantino, but damn, those movies sucked, especially part 1. Hey Quentin, try to keep your influences to a number less than 100 when making a flick! Even using a leftover Godzilla set didn't help.

I truly am a big Tarantino fan (Inglourius Basterds is top notch), but Kill Bill 1 was all over the place. A bunch of cool scenes, but an overall lackluster film. Part 2 was more focused and much better, imo. Part 1 wanted to be 10 different movies without ever settling on which one it wanted to be. I've seen the anime, I've seen the J Horror, I've seen the cartoons....Kill Bill 1 wanted to be all of them and fell waaay short. My opinion, of course. :)

I found Kill Bill I and II to be totally unwatchable. I can't even explain why. Tarantino's films seem to have a polarizing effect, they're either loved or hated, and I just instinctively hate them, the Kill Bill's most of all.

Sadly, it really was an awful movie. Too much reality. As a mom I want an escape when I see a movie not more of the really tough aspects of being a mom and a woman.

I just thought this might be a "pay the rent" sort of film for her.

It really was exhausting to sit though. The only other films that I remember feeling that tourtured through were Ishtar and After Hours.
