1. If this pro-corporate administration had been better on wilderness issues, I might have confidence |
|
...it was a joke.
Then again, as an environmental activist, being betrayed by Democrats is an old story...

2. I suspect this isn't true |
|
if it were, Obama would be likely to lose a LOT more support, and maybe not just from the "far" left.

5. He just appointed a pesticide lobbyist as trade rep. GE's pollution defender is now |
|
in charge of DOJ's 'enforcement' of environmental laws.

9. yeah, well, turns out it is true |
|
leaving me one more reason to not vote for him in 2012.
I'm beginning to wonder if I even belong on a site called "Democratic" anymore.

I had previously read that some areas might be opened. Oregon already passed a ten year moratorium in case it happened, iirc.
Don't know anything about an embargo though.

This is consistent with the State of the Union speech. Likely there is a lot of truth to it.

8. I'm sure they've seen the numbers and realize in the short term we still need more oil |
|
Converting to alternative sources will take decades and even then it will take many years to upgrade our electricity producing system as well, probably with more nuclear power in the mix. We need more oil and it is sitting all around us, if we don't get it some other country will and then we will just be buying it from them.
