Went to the hand doctor today
about a follow-up visit, and the doctor asked if I wanted the surgery to correct a problem with my hand. He said that pretty soon, the "socialized medicine" is going to kick in, and there will be "800" people coming in new, and that we patients who have been there, will find it more difficult to get things like hand surgery and such.

I'm afraid I didn't argue with him about it--I just wasn't able to get my brain cleared enough to try and debate the whos, whats and whys of HCR with him. But the argument he put up, I'm sure, is what a lot of people are thinking. I think they are overlooking the fact that most of it doesn't all come at once, and that there will be more grants and loans to help increase the numb of doctors and support personnel countrywide.

So there seems to be a "mis-firing" somewhere along the way in interpreting the results as we know them so far.

1. Yes, I'm sure your hand-ologist represents the opinion of many. Obama will educate
them.

2. Doctors are the only capitalists I've seen who hate increased business

You would think they would relish increased traffic, especially since no one can force them to take more patients than they want to deal with.

9. A part of the problem is that many of the fellowships/colleges ...
...deliberately restric their numbers to prevent an oversupply of services in order to keep prices inflated.

A sudden influx of new customers will cause some disruption and overloading of medical service providers.

A sudden influx of new customers will create a large demand for those services and if that demand is met prices will ultimately fall.

8. The other one I liked was, "what does 'D' stand for? Doctor."
I'm always surprised when I see people paying such deference to these people. Sure the school is hard, but look at the average graduate, it ain't that hard.

John McSame graduated from Annapolis, what does that tell you?
