Oh DU, gotta love big corporations: about that nuclear power commercial on MSNBC...
Um, yeah, GE owns a company which is in the nuclear power business.

They didn't even say anything about that either in the commercial, only the online story I just skimmed about it has a mention about that.

Here is GE Infrastructure:
http://www.ge.com/en/company/businesses/ge_infrastructure.htm

You'll notice that "energy" link. Click on it and you'll find this page:
http://www.gepower.com/home/index.htm

Notice that little itty-bity story down on the right hand side? You know the one about GE being awarded a contract at the Monticello plant, to increase its power output?

Yeppo, we've been had. Only they're propagandizing us with stuff from the left, hence Keith Olbermann and the fact that this feature on nuclear power from MSNBC.com contains quotes and information from people on the left as well. It makes sense, now that Democrats control the Congress, they have to start pandering to us in order to brainwash us into liking their products.

Here is the feature that's been mentioned on MSNBC so much:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16272910/

You'll note they did say something about the bias, a long way into a boring text filled story, however in the video on their website about this, which is linked to on the first page of the feature, they say nothing.

I'm sorry, but the first thing that should be said in an article about nuclear power from a GE owned company is that GE has a big time interest in getting us to think a certain way about their business.

Not everyone out their in lala land knows MSNBC is owned by GE. I'd hope they would, but not everyone does.

But even if someone knows about it, it really violates the trust of their viewers and readers online to be propagandized in such a way.

Shame on GE and shame on MSNBC.

1. Oh and on the MSNBC website, this story is featured at the top of the page...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/

It's up there with the most important stories of the day.

Both FOX News and CNN don't have anything about this, why does MSNBC?

2. Fourth generation Thorium high temperature gas cooled nuclear reactors
....and fission reactors are the power source of the future for both the U.S. and the world. We had better be on the cutting edge of that technology

3. GE is not talking about that...
Edited on Mon Jan-22-07 05:47 PM by originalpckelly
They're talking about boiling water ones. The ones, which if I remember correctly, GE first came up with. :grr: I'm so sick of this bullshit.

:eyes:

I'm not necessarily against nuclear power, but I don't think MSNBC is being upfront enough on this.

5. I sent in a complaint on the little feedback link at the bottom:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/

It's way down there at the bottom, I would link to it here, but it's a javascript link so it won't work.

6. I wonder if this is why they pushed Bush to create a greenhouse gas cap...
their nuclear power business would be an obvious beneficiary because it doesn't produce greenhouses gases. Of course, there could be a malfunction or a terrorist attack, and a large swath of land area would be irradiated.
