Poll question: Does anybody think that the Democratic Party should be called the Democrat Party
I am having a debate in my head - the Republicans childish labeling of the Democratic Party as the Democrat Party really bugs me because of the underlying nastiness - but then it occurred to me that there is at least a slim possibility that some Democrat somewhere thinks that the Democrat party is plausible. If there is anybody who thinks that - please let me know why?

1. don't care
I know some people get bent out of shape by it, but it doesn't bother me a bit, Democratic or Democrat party, either one works for me.

3. The inherent nastiness bothers me
It's basically Republicans claiming the right to define the Democratic Party, and that sort of arrogance is nasty no matter if it's applied to a religion or a life style, or a race or a party - the people who are actually part of that group get to decide what they are called.

7. I am a Democrat
If the opposition wants to define it's incivility by misusing English and not calling the Democratic Party by its name, that says a lot more about the user than it does about Democrats.

8. Democrat Party? No. Ungrammitical and displays stupidity.
Democrat is only a noun. You cannot use a noun to modify (describe) a noun.

Republican is both a noun and an adjective. When used as an adjective it can modify (describe) a noun.

I guess we were shortchanged and are stuck with democratic and democrat used as adjectives and nouns respectively.

9. You shouldn't let RWingers get to you in any way, shape or form.
When I am talking about a DEMOCRAT, I say democrat. When I am talking about DEMOCRATS, I am talking about more than one democrat. When I say the Democratic Party I am always talking about fellow democrats and I never say DEMOCRAT PARTY. I say DEMS far more than I ever have.

How bout we call them the DEMs and the REPs just to keep it simple for the REPs?

10. There is no reason to institutionalize bad grammar.
'Democratic' defines 'party', just as 'Republican' defines 'party'. Democrat Party is just plain bad grammar, as would be Republic Party.
