Anti-Obama Sign Sparks Negative Reaction

ACAMPO, Calif. (CBS13) ― A sign near a busy highway is being called racist by some for its blunt attack on President Barack Obama that uses words that skew closely to obscene phrases.

The sign along Highway 99 in Acampo reads: "Obama = Niggardly," "Hurts small biz," "Buck Ofama," with a sign on the side that reads "Gone fish'n."

Although the sign doesn't display actual profanity or racial epithets -- the word "niggardly" is defined by dictionaries as meaning "stingy" -- the restaurant owner that rented the property the sign is placed on is concerned that she will be blamed for its implications.

"We didn't hang the sign," said business owner Claudia Silva. "It probably looks bad because we're closing the business right now."

The coffee and burger shop located on the property just closed its doors on Tuesday, and employees said the sign appeared sometime after they shut down and before they came back to clean out the building Wednesday.

Silva said she acknowledges the sign-maker's constitutional right to free speech, but "whether they had the right to come onto this property that we rent and hang the sign… I don't think that was really fair to make us look like we're prejudiced."

Oh, I get it. Whoever hung this sign is trying to bait someone into calling him or her a racist so they can cry foul because of the real meaning of the word. It shouldn't be too hard to hoist this dumbfuck by their own petard. All it would take is getting them on record complaining about Obama spending too much , then wham, ask them exactly why they would describe that as "niggardly"?

Anti-Obama Sign Taken Down After Negative Reaction


An anti-Obama sign that had sparked an investigation after being placed near a busy highway was removed overnight just as local and federal investigators were looking into whether the sign and its almost-obscene phrases was a crime.
