and that one small favorable economic report does not mean recovery, I am so sick of these young bright siders thinking recovery is mounths away. This assult on the working class has been going strong for 30 GD Years! So its not going to get much better in 4 years, there is no GD way this trend will reverse in my lifetime and I doubt very much it will reverse in your lifetime!

When various monies from things like the Stimulus Bill allowed for various people to hold on to their jobs. But failing another round of Stimulus spending, those people will become unemployed very soon. (Unless the local papers talking about this have it all wrong. But so many teachers and social workers that I know personally are facing lay offs, so I do think that they have it right.)

Then you have the fact that many experts expect a huge collapse in the commercial real estate sector.

Then you have nations like Iceland and Greece waking up to the fact that they really should not expect their populace to go hungry for the sake of some Wall Street firms (and/or their banks) to sit back pretty after making such terrible decisions. The Wall Street crowd acted in an immoral and criminal way towards so many, and why anyone who doesn't live inside this country would consider paying the Wall Street people back, I don't know. (Although I will concede that their criminal behavior was all quite legal.)

Then you have the fact that Bernanke/Geithner have given away fourteen trillion bucks to the Upper one percent of the Banksters. This money has to come from somewhere: Can any one here say "Social Security Reform." Right now, the only people I know that are financially secure are a few people who made a couple of wise investments in their middle aged years, and now, between those retirement investments and their Social Security, they can afford new cars and eating out. but once Social Security is pulled out from under them, they won't be propping up the economy.

Additionally, two days ago, Brussels news agency reported the loss of 360,000 jobs in the USA due to the new health care reform act. So what happens when those people join the unemployed, sometime over the next thirty six months?

I have seen hundreds of claims that any good news is impossible or lies, because nothing can be positive until we have frictional unemployment and soaring personal incomes. Why try to whine about the people who can manage to understand the difference between some thing starting to improve and everything being wonderful (or everything being terrible with no possibility of improvement ay any level). The problem is in those who cannot make this distinction, not those who can.

reversing trends, or even reversed trends are not recovery and I've never seen anyone claim anything beyond improvement rather than perfection.

10. A bump is not a reversal in trends.

A reversal in trends would be the abandonment of neo-lib economic colonialism, 'free trade', and an end to the destruction of the unions. In the last year the auto unions took a very hard hit, the teachers' unions are under attack now, and we have formally declared that 1/6 of the economy is beyond the purview of the government my locking in private for-profit insurance as the foundation of our health care system.

I see NO reversal of trends here.

trust me kids its true. Its not an Democrat or Republican issue, its globalization, which both political parties support to one extent or another. We have NO allies against this wealth power house with its unlimited resources to enable the worlds powerful to exploit the worlds working classes in order to secure even greater PROFITS.

the folks in the battle for Seattle were years ahead of their time in recognizing this threat, I admit I thought they were crazy, of course I was secure in my career earning six figures during Clinton. Then came NAFTA..... Ross Perot Was the ONLY political to warn against this move toward Globalization implementation, his quote, "You will hear a Giant Sucking sound, that will be jobs leaving the United States" I thought he was crazy also, shame on me. But Ross was spot on.

I realize that many Liberals cannot see the problem unless they themselves are mired in the middle of it. Now that I am there, I see all those who are in the same over packed boat. I was truly blinded by my own stability and my former ability to get just about every job I applied for. My midas touch turned into Midas in reverse. Add 50+ age and its damn hard to find anything.

So when the Bright Siders start to sing Happy Days after a minor economic report shows improvement, I tend to get a little heated and for that I appologize.
