It will make me optimistic about my chances for getting a job.

Nothing other than <4% unemployment will ever be accepted as good news by a large contingent here. There is no acceptance of anything that can possibly be labeled an improvement that isn't ideal. Gaining 100K jobs will be bad because we need 8 million. Losing 100K jobs will be bad because we need 8 million. It seems way too many people cannot distinguish between the two as worse or better news.
