The constant, obsessive, persistent, harping criticism by the Right...
...is doing great harm to our country.

It is no longer about free speech or political partisanship. It has digressed into something much uglier. The roots are sprouting hatred and vitriol. Someday we will harvest this evil crop.

No, both sides do not do "it". That is a lie. It is true that both sides engage in rancorous political debate but this is something much worse. It is harmful to us all - even those that think these "conservatives" speak for them.

President Obama has done everything within his power to work with these people. Yet, they have vowed to never work with Barack Obama or the Democrats. They even refuse to accept the truth about the god-awful conditions they left this country in, before the last election. They covet a return to power. They have done nothing to deserve it but they scream on...

1. I think that for every hour of right wing talk on TV and radio
we should have two hours of I Love Lucy and similar shows. The country needs to lighten up.

11. More power to you Egnever ....
I am also a part of that base and I do feel abandoned. Everyone is different. On this one we will have to agree to disagree, but thanks for your answer.

4. the sad thing is
that it works. There are lots of angry people and the one who is out there showing them who to blame it on - whether it is correct ot not - wins.
Those who practice critical thinking seem to be a shrinking population.

5. Their GOAL is to harm the country so they will be voted in as the liberators of the evil Democrats.
It's a weird theory.

While Democrats are in control, instigate violence and anarchy and blame Democrats.

Then the GOP, who caused the disaster, claims they will stop it if they are in control.

It's a form of blackmail. I will continue to destroy your country until you give me power.

6. And every moment gets aired on the news
whereas liberal protests which are actually grass roots and have many people without any PROMO... get ignored by the media.

Pisses me off, always will.

8. They're America's hypercritial, authoritarian dad.
What would we do without them? (they think)

The thing about having one of them in the family is, the only way to not make yourself crazy by 'em is to divorce yourself from any respect you have for them, or any need to win their approval. Then they just come off as annoying little gnats - which is not the effect they're going for.

9. It's An Attempt To Wear Us Down...
Right wing harpies can only bitch...when asked for a solution you get talking points and platitudes...words with little meat on the bones. That's by design so a puppet like a boooosh can play figurehead while the real party apparatus goes to work fleecing the treasury and feeding the corporate beasts. To accomplish this they need a compliant "base"...zombies whose anger and ignorance are used to distract from the real motives and to put pressure on the opposition.

This is all about who blinks first...and the GOOP has played the all or nothing game here...never to give in, never to compromise, never to accept any dissent. They will lie and distort as "the end justifies the means"...translation: if it increases my power and wealth and/or destroys my opponent.

Their hopes are all the poutrage will wear President Obama and the rest of us down. That if there's enough discontent somehow people will want to vote rushpublican to "fix things"...or so they think. If not to wear an opponent down, then to put them in a box, like they were able to do with Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. They're trying to same shit on President Obama and he's wise to their games.

I agree, the President is catering too much to "reach across" to an opposition we knew from the outset was hoping for his failure and put their partisan greed ahead of what's best for the country. However, I also see him disarming them at the same time. By coopting some of their proposals, he takes away some real objections and force them into becoming hypocrites (voting against their own bills)...it just shows the lack of any integrity among rushpublicans that so many will do a 180...and if the GOOP doesn't think people are noticing, they're in for quite a surprise.

What appears to be happening is all this poutrage is taking its toll on the rushpublicans. The party is bitterly divided...the only thing holding what's left of the GOOP is hate and obstruction. Destroying the obstruction, all that's left is the hate and little else and the further they go from regaining any credibility or real power. The monsters Atwater, Gingrich, Rove, DeLay and others created has now come back to destroy them.

Cheers...
