Sports Illustrated LTTE: The mental disconnect burns....
in the April 5 issue:

A Price to Pay

"As someone who has been unemployed for seven months, I was glad Senator Jim Bunning's objections to a bill to pay for unemployment benefits were overcome and my benefit check arrived as usual. But I was disappointed that Joe Posnanski's article (SCORECARD, March 15) failed to mention the reason Bunning objected: that both parties in Congress have become addicted to funding programs without regard for how to pay for them. As the parent of two children who will spend their adulthoods paying off today's spending sprees, I was glad the senator made that point."

Paul O'Sullivan
West Hartford, Ct.

I won't even comment -- I'll let this one stand alone in all its ironic glory...

1. Remember the root story that lead to the use of the term Kool Aid?
A group of people were so wrapped up in the words of another, that they gave up their own ability to reason in order to follow a false prophet. This man was persuasive to the degree that he convinced this crowd of followers and supporters to "drink the Kool Aid." We all know the ending to that story, don't we?

Here we see someone willing to follow another to the degree that he will hurt his own family to follow.

Keeping yourself informed to the degree you feel confident in making your own decisions is a lot of work. Is this laziness?

2. Didn't Senator Bunning just vote against the Pay-Go Bill
The bill that states we have to pay for things before we implement them. Except of course unless we have a War of Choice to throw money at, or give Oil Giants like Exxon which for the last eight years has been making a Net Profit of OVER a Hundred million dollars a DAY..A frigging DAY...NET PROFIT..after every single expense has been paid...OVER One Hundred MILLION Dollars a DAY.. and they still want the Government to give them money as a stimulus....Bunning is certainly for that..
