Smackdown on Sarah

Folks, the fine organization Defenders of the Wildlife has now accumulated nearly 160,000 signatures to pull Palin from this Discovery Channel show on Alaska. I posted this a couple days ago when there were 17,000 signatories.

What better time to say "NO" to this whackadoodle. She gets waaaaay too much press coverage at her book signings and speeches and stands to make a lot of money from this TV show. Originally, Defenders was looking for 100,000 signatures, but I like the number "quarter million" better.

I like some of their shows too. If people really want to watch her, then so be it however her talking about the wildlife is like having a Cheney talk about the peace movement.

She'll likely keep some of the money but not all that she could have made.

There are contracts and then there are contracts. I had wondered if she managed a 'pay or play' clause or if News Corp. chose to protect themselves from her mavericky ways in any real and legally binding way. If they pay her for what is not done, they will also have her contractually obligated to not do some other TV during that time. When milking a short time fame, that can be a real problem.

25. D.O.W. is an excellent organization and a worthy charity.

There are working worldwide for the benefit of wildlife.

A number of DOW personnel were killed in a chopper crash in Tibet on a mission to save endangered wildlife.

These folks gave their lives to support the cause. I am going to do the easy thing and send them a donation. They do the difficult and dangerous work.

She is no way represents MY Alaska, and I told Discovery so. Most people here who I know value our wildlife, both predator and prey, and realize that the animals are a big reason why tourists come here. Sarah and her ilk are an aberration.
