I used to enjoy "My Cage"
A syndicated daily comic strip.

But today's strip wasn't funny, and had the wrong target.
Should have been Bill O'Reilly, not Keith Olbermann.

:grr:

1. Actually....
...it's a knock at extremist views in general and how they are being used to make money. The name Glenn Olbermann is a spoof of Keith and Glenn Beck. Also, the animal pictured is a 'wuzzle' of an elephant and a donkey (because what I lack in subtlety I make up for in lack of subtlety).

My artist added the books and merchandise, which if I'd had time I would've had removed (because I meant for the strip to show how opinion shows are often about getting sponsors), but that happens in a creative medium.

Oddly, just the other night 'The Daily Show' made a joke about 'Glenn Olberbeck' and showed a mock up of Keith Olbermann and Glenn Beck photshopped into one being...which blew me away since my deadlines are 3 months before a strip runs, making it a heck of a coinky-dink.

Politically I'm a left-leaning moderate who believes first and foremost in what Ben Franklin said when congress was being created:

"When a broad table is to be made, and the planks do not fit, the artist takes a little from both, and makes a good joint."

Of course, he also said "Fart proudly!" and I'd get censored out of newspapers if I put that in a strip, and Ben was one of the grandfathers of the modern press. :)

Anyway. That's all I got.

LATER!

2. Welcome to DU.
Guess I can't put it any better than the artist in play. The meshing is insightful, IMO. I love my KO, and would hope he'd be pleased to represent the left.

7. I was relieved to see him get some truth on the air....
(with it's liberal bias, I suppose)

This is a false equivalence of the most pernicious sort...

3. Welcome to DU! Thanks for dropping in -- I didn't mind your 'toon, and it's always nice...
... to hear the artist's version of his own work. :hi:

4. Someone on DU came up with "Glennbaugh"
(maybe someone else said it first, I don't know) but there's another composite name for you. :)

6. As long as you're here, Norm needs a zigzag yellow shirt.

5. Welcome!

The strip and the comment are both appreciated.
