Mass. grapples with new tea party's future

BOSTON—Descendants of Boston's original tea-party activists who dumped British tea in Boston Harbor say their biggest win so far was Republican Scott Brown's upset U.S. Senate victory.
Whether local tea party activists played a decisive role in the January election, Brown's success winning the seat held for decades by Democrat Edward Kennedy has become a rallying point across the land -- much like the original Boston Tea Party more than 200 years ago.
But the question remains: Where is the movement headed? The uncertainty reflects the group's ad hoc structure, its members' diverse agendas and a composition that includes many political beginners.
The Massachusetts tea party movement is rooted in opposition to President Barack Obama that preceded his election but has grown since his inauguration.
