Poll question: What is more credible, an Easter Egg or the Pope?

I'm not bashing Catholics or the Catholic church, but the Pope is just a man. He hasn't been picked by God to be in his position. He was picked by men (only men). Throughout the history of the Catholic church Popes have ranged from ok, to monsters. They are NOT infallible. Now, the current Pope is hiding and being irresponsible for his part in covering up the abuse of little, vulnerable children. Anyone who is a child molester or who took part in a coverup to hide the abuse are both equal monsters. An Easter Egg has more principle, conviction and honor than this Pope does. At least the Easter Egg didn't abuse a child or participate in a coverup.

They are human beings and make many many mistakes. That has never been in question.

The infallibility is with proclamations as to doctrine and are very few and far between.

Just wanting to correct that one little detail.

The Catholic Church constantly makes changes in its doctrine. And you would think that if the Bible and their beliefs could be a lot clearer. If 'God' was all that bright then why do no two people on the planet agree with everything about their religions? How many Christian religions are there, 2,000??? Each one believes they know the true interpretation, while others are wrong. A lot of fundamentalist churches (and even Catholics did) say you are going to hell if you are not one of 'us'. Good grief, how does anyone believe this nonsense!!!

12. Well I'm not really arguing for the Church

But they would differentiate between what the Church teaches in given time periods, verse the very basic dogma and Papal Bulls. The simplistic version to teach a 7 year old is we're all going to hell if we're not Catholic. As people got a little older and either stayed with the Church, got a good priest, or went to college; hopefully they came across more mature teaching that says nobody really knows how God will respond to others believers, we just "know" we are the One True Church, handed down from St Peter. That has evolved into teaching that all religions have a piece of the truth, and a more inclusive teaching.

I have absolutely no desire to argue for the Church, in any way, I just think sometimes people get that infallibility mixed up and when someone is making an argument to a staunch Catholic, well you lose right there when you don't know what infallibility means. That's all.

My husband really summed it up best, for me, and that is actually rare, lol. The three major religions come from the same Middle East that has been embroiled in the nastiest kinds of wars since the beginning of time. Why in the world would we want to worship any sort of "god" that came from that mess.

isn't there some way in place to remove him? Seems like the idea is he is so close to God that he is beyond human falliblity.
