17. San Pedro, about 1967-68,
we were at Ports o'Call when a rolling quake happened. Everybody just stopped what they were doing and looked surprised. Most felt a bit seasick. I'd been in more jolting quakes, but that rolling thing was very strange.

Hope everyone is okay!

7. Jeeeebus that was a spooky one.
I'll take the quick sharp shock, thank you. The rolling ones that go on and on can get fucked.

20. From your usgs link...
...earthquakes occurring within minutes of each other: Sonora, Mexico; Southern California; Baja, California; Santa Monica Bay; plus some shaking up in Northern California.

I was sitting in a screening of "Clash of the Titans" (in 3d, in Monrovia, CA), and the 7.2 Baja quake hit right during a particularly catastrophic scene in the movie where everything was being destroyed by the Kraken. It added a lot to my movie-going experience, kinda like "sensurround" way back when.

for a very VERY long time. Didn't think that sucker was ever gonna stop. Smooth ones though not the jolting type we so often get.
