Dr. King would travel there to stop the violence. An assassin would take Dr. King's life. He crossed over to the promised land. His dream does survive. We have come so far in 42 years. There is still room to continue his work.
In 1962 Dr. King did something that would change my life in 1982. That was 14 years after his death. Dr. King and other black ministers were invited to the White House and lunch with Attorney General Bobbi Kennedy. The topic was how to integrate the upper levels of the federal government. Dr. King suggested the name of a Jr. lawyer in the Labor Dept., Howard Jenkins Jr. for the NLRB board. He came to be known as Mr NLRB. He stayed on the board through 5 different presidents. He was the deciding vote on the NLRB in 1982.
