RW radio host "I hope we get another 9/11 to shut up Jane Fonda"
Edited on Tue Jan-30-07 12:04 PM by Cocoa
Maurice Hinchey called RW radio "neo-fascist." I am a little fuzzy on the precise definition of fascism, but the kind of sentiment Mike Gallagher expresses here seems to me to fit the definition. He says that 9/11 was good in a way, in that the country was "united," and people he doesn't like, like Jane Fonda, kept their mouths shut. Sounds pretty fascistic to me.

He puts his thoughts in print here, but last night he went on at length, saying "I hope we get hit again" a number of times, and stood by it when callers called in to object. He said the victims of the attack would be sacrificing themselves for the good of the country like the troops are sacrificing themselves now in Iraq.

<snip>

Seeing Jane Fonda Saturday was enough to make me wish the unthinkable: it will take another terror attack on American soil in order to render these left-leaning crazies irrelevant again. Remember how quiet they were after 9/11? No one dared take them seriously. It was the United States against the terrorist world, just like it should be.

1. How is that statement not treasonous?
I mean come on, that's wishing harm to the country... I wonder how many Republicans were killed from 9/11.

2. So he wants thousands of Americans to die...
so that he can tell Jane Fonda, "I told you so?" That's nice.

Geez, dude, the 1960's were a long time ago. Let it go...

5. Mike Gallagher hoping for a terrorist attack?
Isn't that what he and his right wing ilk have claimed that the liberals secretly want? That by treating the crimes of 9/11 as a criminal and not a military matter, liberals are secretly hoping for another attack? And yet, here's a right winger openly calling for another terrorist attack (although I notice that he doesn't volunteer his home for the site of said attack), and he will be lionized and revered on the right for "telling it like it is."

Conservatives loves them some violent death and destruction. As long as it happens to someone else, of cuss.

10. RW radio has been mocking the protests in D.C.
having fun with the communists, etc.

No protester, communist or otherwise, has said anything remotely as treasonous as what was broadcast last night.

6. This is stating the obvious, but, I wouldn't want us to get hit again
(What sane person WOULD?!?!?!?)

Even IF, IF, IF(!) Mike Gallagher were the first one to fall in the attack.

I wonder if he even Thinks of that possibility? Or, if any of his callers have?

7. Conservatives would like nothing better than a daily 9/11 and beheading videos 24/7.
It helps them with their victim fetish. Not to mention keeping the military wheel rolling 24/7.

8. Geeze, it seemed to me that republicans were doing a fine job of inviting another 9/11...
Why "wish" for another 9/11 when I couldn't imagine doing a better job of inviting another 9/11 than completely inflaming the Middle East, letting the Taliban rise again, not inspecting cargo for even radiation, keeping our borders porous except for lip service, requiring no extra security at chemical plants, giving Korea and Iran motivation for escalating their nuke programs, etc. etc. etc.

16. That isn't "entertainment". Nor is it rhetorical. Nor a metaphor.
It's inciting violence. Can you imagine a listener with mental issues taking arms to "neutralize" Jane Fonda because in his/her warped mind, Mike Gallagher's diatribe was interpreted as this is a way to prevent a future 9-11.

19. Fascism requires a sense of national emergency, it will supply the emergency too
Edited on Tue Jan-30-07 12:27 PM by kenny blankenship
not just fantasize about it. Clinton's rampaging penis was the national emergency used in the late 90s to justify an soft-pedal coup d'etat. Obviously the feverish talk about how the country was in some kind of a dire crisis because of the Clenis shows that almost anything will do to fuel the imaginations and bile of Fascists who're jonesing for a national emergency to work themselves up over. Macro-terrorism, and the build up to war are even better for the Fascist romantically anticipating and dreaming about "the Big Crackdown". But unlike made up crises like the Clenis Crisis, a war tends to get real unless it can be confined to Grenada sized bites. Getting what they want is the downfall of the Fascist fantasist. Holy War not going so well? Now the Fascist must begin to hope for some new outrage to scare the people with. Why, it might even be necessary--and justified! he thinks--to supply this great event himself... He prays to Allah to send Islamic terrorists, of course, so that the country may be beaten down with fear again. If only you will send the Islamic terrorists I will renounce my Christian God and believe in you Allah! But he knows that might not be enough, Allah probably isn't listening to him. So he reaches out on the AM band airwaves to others infected with the same brain bug, "please brother send terror in our time! Send anthrax! Send a dirty bomb! Send something anything to deliver us from democracy!"

22. That was the thought I just had.
They claim liberals want the U.S. to "lose" in Iraq; now they wish for another 9/11? How does one ideology reconcile those two points?

Political drivel, provided purely to incite listeners to hate, hate, hate -- and since hating terrorists has become so passe, it's time to drum up hate of liberals by hoping for more terrorism.

23. I've heard of right-wingers advocating violence before
for instance, Ann Coulter saying someone should poison Justice Stevens' creme brulee - supposedly a "joke," but you know damn well if Keith Olbermann had said anything like that and then claimed to be joking, the RW media would be all over him (my apologies to KO for mentioning him in the same sentence as Ann Coulter). This, however, goes beyond violent. It goes beyond disgusting, shocking, and hateful. This Gallagher fellow is doing nothing less than explicitly advocating the mass murder of U.S. citizens. How on earth people like him can get away with this and then accuse liberals of siding with the terrorists is beyond me. :grr: Unacceptable.

28. Quick Everyone Repeat After Me,
Gallagher Is Emboldening the Enemy **** Free Speech is OFF the Table:rofl:

Actually I think I will call his station to file a compliant.

Do you have a contact number?

What is wrong with these idiots?

He has a right to Free Speech but he doesn't have that right to incite violence (over the public airwaves) because he doesn't agree with someone else's politics.

I believe in the first amendment and his right to say whatever the Fook he wants to say, but I do not believe he has that right to spew that kind of vibrato/rhetoric over our public airwaves, which belongs to ALL of us. He has betrayed our nation, and the trust of the "public airwaves", to me what he has done is the same as shouting fire in a crowded theater.

So, I call on the powers that be to exterminate his program. That would be the correct course of action to take against someone who wants to see harm inflicted upon the citizens of our country.

Thanks for posting, Cocoa

Only a self-absorbed, self-righteous, jerk-off would wish

claim all life should be respectd. They are so full of shit.

36. PNAC-lite
If it ever happens, the conspiracy theories won't seem so wild. We'll have to look really closely at who actually did it.

What an evil moran. His "sacrifice" motif is eerie - that's similar to the 911 hijackers, who were sacrificing themselves. Also hoping that these same people he deems evil will be successful, apparently, in carrying out another attack.

Also this attack is worth it just to shut these liberals up? It's like he'd rather die than merely hear an idea he doesn't agree with.
