How Much Do You Pay Each Month for Insurance?

Just curious.

When I total all of mine up I think it is almost as much as my car payment and my house payment combined. And I never use any of it so it is just money out the window for me. No return.

Car - $100

Health - $350
Business - $30

That is a big payment every month.

but, yeah...you're right. It's a lot of money. When I think about it we could have a new car with the extra cash rather than the piece of shit we currently drive.

4. My car insurance is about $72 a month

My mobile home insurance is about $300 a year. My health insurance is around $100 a month. And I have pet insurance on my Rottie, which is $47 a month.

I get upset when I pay bills, so I am better off not knowing. I think insurance (with high deductables) is money well spent. Especially, if you can't afford to lose the item that is being insured.

11. We Own Our Vehicles & Were Lucky Enough To Have Health

insurance from a Labor Union Company. HOWEVER, just got my quote for this year's home insurance and it's OVER $4,000.00! Plus we own five acres of land further south and my taxes there are $4,600.00 and the taxes on my home are $$1200.00! We just took money out of our IRA to pay for them!

But we do pay monthly for our car insurance which is $200.00 a month! We ARE not wealthy, I'm on Disability and my husband who is a bit older than I will soon be put on Medicare, which will be $93.50 and month. Mine is already $93.50 a month, but because of the UNION, we are able to use Humana and it includes Pharmacy costs with it and we don't have to pay anything for it!

When my husband retired we decided to pay off our vehicles because we only have his Social Security income and my Disability income coming in each month. About $2200.00, after Medicare takes their cut! We have out 5 acres up for sale but don't have much hope of selling right now because ONLY THE RICH can afford to buy the 5 acres. We figure we can hold out for a couple more years and then we will have to DO SOMETHING!

I shop as frugally as possibly, but am glad I had the foresight to save at the highest rate possible while my husband worked for GTE!

We have garage sales about twice a year, and do odd jobs on the side.

it became too costly at $710.00 per month for only me and my son (COBRA). Right now, it is:

I paid like $680 a year for house and $320 a year for car back when I had insurance. Health is about $420 a month and my employer pays half, but I have used that.

You should switch to Geico :hide: or increase your deductibles on your car.

We are lucky to have health insurance through my husband's work, but it still costs us a pretty penny each month.

And we haven't bought a home yet, so no homeowner's insurance or any of that yet - also my husband has life insurance, but it is a small payment deducted from his check, not sure how much.

And both me and my spouse have been out of work for a while.

We're both college educated with years of white collar experience and there is nothing out there right now.

We're caught up in the Detroit Automotive world. So many others I know are in the same boat.

Michigan's recent job loss compares to the Great Depression

A highly-regarded economic forecast to be released in Ann Arbor this morning compares Michigan's massive job loss in the past six years to the Great Depression and paints a bleak picture for the next two years.

Michigan lost 336,000 jobs in the past six years and it will lose another 33,000 in the next two years -- the longest stretch of employment loss in the state since the 1929 stock market crash plunged the nation into bleak times, say University of Michigan economists Joan Crary, George Fulton and Saul Hymans. This time the pain is focused solely in Michigan because of its reliance on the auto industry.

"Michigan is being battered by one of the most tenacious economic storms ever confronted by its citizenry," the economists write in their 28-page forecast. "At no time in its history, or at least as far back as the records take us, has the state endured such a drawn-out disturbance."

I opted out of the health plan offered at my job, and use the $$ to pay for a real dental plan.

We are very fortunate. My husband is civil service (post office), and it's a great health plan. However, the new contract being offered will give him a pay increase of approx $500/yr, but they want to increase employee share of health insurance by $1300/yr.

24. Nothing anymore

I lost my insurance when I took another private, non-profit position with a social service agency and couldn't afford what was being offered. Being a social worker sucks when it means one can't even afford health insurance. There seems to be something basically wrong about that.

car insurance is about $35 per vehicle for basic coverage.
House is just under $60 per month.

We are thankful that my husband's employer kicks in for the part of the health insurance, otherwise our plan would cost over $1100 a month. The good news is that the plan is very comprehensive and so we have low or no co-pays. We're actually also very grateful to have a health plan at all, since my husband and I went without for a few years.

Our home insurance is so cheap because we live in a condo, so this just covers loss to the interior.
