Okay, I know that "Tweety" refers to Chris Matthews. There are sobriquets for Karl Rove and Rush Limbaugh as well: I cannot recall them at the moment, but I recognize them when I see them, channeling Potter Stewart.

But what of the other appelations? Longtime DUer Elsewhere's Daughter has been assisting me with some, but there's a metric tonne of 'em, and I'd appreciate some ejewmackayshun from others here. Translation: Help!

I'm pretty sure that Karl Rove is Turd Blossom. Rush could be OxyRush, or Limp-balls, or any number of other nicknames. Sarah Palin is another who is referred to by a number of names, such as Caribou Barbie, Bible Spice, and more. John Boehner is simply known as Boner, Glenn Beck is Glenn BecKKK.

Turd Blossom is George W. Bush's affectionate nickname for Karl Rove, and it's about the only thing DUers agree with the former president on.

"Moran" for "moron" in honor of the pro-war rally nitwit with the misspelled sign.

Sen. Box Turtle is John Cornyn.

There's really too many to mention. Feel free to post a "whodat" or "whatdat" question when someone uses something too obscure.

19. It's also a good idea to keep in mind that some DU'ers pick up on

their favorite media personalities' nicknames for certain personages as well.

For example, Keith Olbermann regularly refers to Bill O'Reilly as "Billo the Clown," Glenn Beck as "Glenn 'Lonesome Rhodes' Beck" (for explanation see the 1957 movie A Face in the Crowd), Ann Coulter as "Coultergeist," Sarah Palin as "Sister Sarah" (probably from Two Mules for Sister Sara) and "The Half-Governor of Alaska," Michael Savage as "The Savage Weiner" (after his original surname) and Rush Limbaugh as "Comedian Rush Limbaugh."

Radio show host Stephanie Miller has all kinds of nicknames for wingnuts: Tom DeLay is Drunky McPukeShoes, John Boehner is John Boner (because, she explains, "when two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking"), Mitch McConnell is Mitch McChinless, Dick Morris is Prostitute Toesucker Dick Morris, and the list goes on.

Ed Schultz likes to call Rush Limbaugh "The Drugster."
