3. I think you would win that bet.
His district put the bite on him because the majority is anti-choice.

15. The rethug got a ton of money just after the HCR vote
He is running un opposed for the nomination, I have heard there are multible dems wanting to run. And this is a fairly conservative district. In this climate I think with Bart leaving it now favors the rethugs.

17. Most of Stupak's district is the upper peninsula of Michigan
There is nothing solidly "Dem" about the U.P. I hate to be a defeatist ....but, Stupak is probably as good (read liberal) as it is going to get from that district. The voters in the district likely voted for Stupak as an individual ... not Stupak the democratic party member.

7. More like he lost all the men
who want to tell us what we can or can't do with our own bodies.

He caved, you know. He didn't manage to get safe, legal abortion stopped and he wasn't "principled" enough to stop any hope of insurance reform over it.

9. whatever that means? actually I was born in Wash., D.C.

and lived the young part of my life 8 blocks from the Capitol. when my mother was a kid she and her frinds would roller skate up to the capital, say hello to the guards, get a drink of water in the rotunda and then skate back home.

I now live in the Conch Republic. (Fl. Keys)

16. "whatever that means"? Don't you understand representative government? Stupak represents his
district.

11. My bet is he was afraid for his life from 'pro-life' murderers...
Stupak was targeted by right wingers. He was deluged with calls threatening him and his wife. I'm sure that was the major reason for his quitting. But he would never say he is leaving because of the threats because that would embolden all the other maniacs in the right wing to turn their vile hatred toward other democratic congressmen. Stupak knows he can never say he quit because he was afraid of his life. To do so will surely lead to more threats and even assassinations from one of the tea party freaks.
