SERGEANT BLUFF, Iowa -- Congresswoman Michele Bachmann told conservatives Saturday at Iowa 5th District Congressman Steve King's third annual Defenders of Freedom fundraiser that as Americans, they're not going to "roll over" and accept the health care bill.
"If government can force you to buy something against your will, there is nothing the government can't force you to do," the two-term Republican from Minnesota told more than 400 conservatives gathered at the Bluff's Area Family Center.
King, who introduced Bachmann, called her a "bright light" and a "good, solid conservative" with good credentials and instincts.
Flanked by a giant American flag, Bachmann, an Iowa native, called King a "tremendous leader" and her best friend in Congress.
"Whatever the issue of the day is, you can count on Steve King," she said. "He's got an argument for everything."
King and Bachmann both introduced bills to repeal the health care bill. They also participated in so-called Kill The Bill rallies in 2009 and 2010 prior to the passage of the reform bill. ......(more)
