That may sound superficial but that is why she is so popular with so many in the Republican Party.

Although they profess to dislike Hollywood and actors and everything superficial, in fact, they love pretty faces and popular movie stars. Sarah is like a movie star to them. Never mind that her voice is ten times worse than fingernails across a blackboard.

That is why they voted for Arnold Schwartzenegger in a special election for Governor. That is why they loved Clint Eastwood and Charlton Heston. That is why they loved their hero, Ronald Reagan. And Sarah falls into the same niche.

Sarah is hot. She may be dumb as a rock but that really doesn't matter. It's not like they vote for people to govern. They vote for people that can win. They loved to have a beer with Dubya. He was like them. It didn't matter that he was a goober. We may end up with the hottest President in history if the Republicans get to choose.

That's why I would like to see Rachel Maddow run for office in the future. She has the star power, but actually knows politics and is smart. People are shallow. This is why Barack Obama became President, not that he doesn't have the qualifications to be one, but he was much handsomer than the other primary candidates other than John Edwards who could have given him a run for his money, if he hadn't screwed up. Dennis Kucinich, the guy whom I think would have made the President we wanted, didn't have a chance against all that pulchritude. If Dennis has been tall and handsome and with his beautiful wife at his side, he would have been a shoo-in if he didn't look like an elf.

Plain and simple, the only reason she was chosen by McCain was because she was attractive. It sure as hell wasn't her deep grasp on the issues because outside of Alaska no-one in the lower 49 outside of some wonks and other governors had even heard of her. Hell, if McCain really wanted a sop to the religious faction he would have gone with Huckabee who at least had a clue on the issues.

Truth be told, I'm noticing that she doesn't look remotely as good now as she did on the campaign. If she doesn't run in 2012 I think the Freeps and teabaggers are going to lose interest by the time 2016 rolls around.
