Ga Insur Comm (and GOP Gov. candidate) Oxendine Opts Out of Federal Coverage for Uninsured
Georgia's insurance commissioner says he won't
move forward with state participation in the first phase of a new
federal health care plan, even though it could bring federal grants to the state.

Federal health officials said if Georgia refuses to take part, they will run a coverage program in the state.

Republican John Oxendine said he does not think Georgia should
take part in the creation of a federal insurance pool, backed by $5 billion in federal money, that would offer subsidized premiums to people who have been uninsured for at least six months.

"I have no confidence in any federal assertion that this so-called temporary program will not burden the taxpayers of Georgia," Oxendine said in a statement Monday. "I am concerned that the high risk insurance program will ultimately become the financial responsibility of Georgians at a time when our state is furloughing teachers, laying off employees, and cutting public safety and education funding."

1. They're "furloughing teachers, laying off employees," ...
and they don't want those they discard to have health insurance, either. Not even on the Federal dime, because the state might someday have to share the costs.

Assholes!

2. If he were so worried about burdening Georgia's taxpayers, maybe he
shouldn't have wrecked every state owned vehicle he's had and then just got a new one.

The Ox is an Ass.
