'Birther' Doc a No-Show at Campbell

April 12, 2010
Military.com|by Bryant Jordan

An Army flight surgeon apparently is sticking to his vow not to deploy until he is satisfied that President Barack Obama is a "natural born" citizen.

Lt. Col. Terrence Lakin did not report for duty at Fort Campbell, Ky. as ordered today, and a spokesman for the post said it's not likely he will.

"The last report I got as of Friday is that he is not going to report to Fort Campbell," spokesman Maj. Patrick Seiber said. "That's from our division surgeon."

Lakin's failure to report essentially dares the Army to bring charges against him for being an unauthorized absence.

Lakin, who has been the chief of primary care at the Pentagon's Tricare health clinic, could not be reached this morning at his Maryland home. Margaret Hemenway, a spokeswoman for a group called the Patriotic American Foundation, which is supporting the 18-year officer, said the Army should not expect Lakin to report unless he sees an original birth certificate showing that Obama was born in Hawaii.

"I think he is solid in his resolve," she told Military.com. "I don't know that they know what they are going to do with him. I think they've been counting on him getting down to Fort Campbell. I think they misled themselves and may have underestimated his commitment."

5. Now there is a truly creepy thought
I think they are both nuts, though.

This really is a reflection of why some people really shouldn't be doctors. Regardless of what he thinks about the CIC, he is a doctor to heal the wounded. There are soldiers in the field and coming home who need medical care. He is putting his insane political beliefs above his responsibility as a military doctor.

Not only should he be court marshaled, he should lose his license to practice medicine.

3. Suggest he be taken into custody and after a mental health exam - discharged.
He could endanger the troops if he stays in. He may owe money back to the government depending on his "contract" with the military.

4. The "Patriotic American Foundation"?
And I guess that means up is down and black is white. This guy will be prosecuted and convicted, as he deserves. Then he'll have some time to think about those "patriotic Americans" who led him astray . . . Did they even GO to law school?

9. Regent University?
Quite a few of the graduates of that 4th tier law school ended up in the Bush Administration DOJ.

There is a tremendous amount of nepotism in law and if you have the right credentials and hold a certain set of beliefs a place can be found for you regardless of your skills, intellect, character or ethics.

12. Of course, you're right
I'd forgotten about Regent and their placements under Bush. Thanks for the reminder. It certainly would be funny if it turns out that that's who his representation is (though not so funny for their client).

7. I talked to one of these nut cases at work
He said he is launching a campaign to start a website that will solicit donations to be made to the Kapiolani Children's hospital in Honolulu, the stated birthplace of Obama but that the donated total would only be made in the Name of the Doctor that witnessed Obama's Birth as recorded on the Long form Version of his Birth Certificate. He said he will be using neutral terms like "in order to honor the Doctor that brought Obama into the world, first African American President and First President from the State of Hawaii we donate this money in his memory and name the childrens wing after him", etc...

His hope is that they get a million dollars worth of donations and that the media interest in uncovering the name of Obama's birth doctor as evidenced on his long version Birth certificate will peak, especially as his hope is, if they are not allowed to accept the money because Obama selfishly refused to release the documents.

All I can do is laugh....

8. Did he stage a protest over Bush?
I'm sure he asked for Bush's birth certificate when he was the doc's C-I-C. I mean it's only right that Presidents prove that they weren't born in Kenya. It's been happening since George Washington.
Oh, really? It hasn't? You mean this is the first President that has been challenged this way? Nevermind.

who in the hell does he think HE is that the president should answer to HIM> But then we all know, the republicans think they rule this country and those that don't agree with them should be "taken out".

11. Appears he's looking for a close encounter with the military justice system
Believe there's quite a few UCMJ Articles that are in play here: 85-90, 92, 133, and 134.

He won't get off lightly if he is foolish enough to push this all the way to a courts-martial.
