Paladino (R candidate for NY Gov) forwarded pornographic, racist emails to friends
Buffalo's Carl P. Paladino was scrambling to save his Republican candidacy for governor Monday after a local Web site released a string of pornographic and racially degrading e-mails that he acknowledged forwarding to a large group of friends.

WNYMedia.net released e-mails showing naked women, demeaning depictions of blacks and President Obama, and one photo of a woman engaging in bestiality that it claimed were forwarded by Paladino.

"Last week we received a series of e-mails through a source regarding racist and sexist e-mails Carl Paladino has sent to his mailing list over the years," said Marc Odien, managing director of WNYMedia.net, who said he had verified with three knowledgeable sources that Paladino was the forwarder.

...

Paladino said he "absolutely" would not resend such e-mails if he were elected governor or now as a candidate.

I love the last paragraph I quoted above -- he would not resend these now. :eyes: Whadda guy....

And, of course, the Repukes are still backing him.

6. It always amazes me how
these kinds of potentially damaging email surface so that we the public know about them.

It sounds like 1st class detective work.

I hope New York has an intelligent Dem somewhere in the wings.. who runs and wins!

12. Andrew Cuomo, the current AG, is going to be the next Governor.
He still hasn't announced yet, but he's running, and he's got like a 2 to 1 lead on anyone else.

I don't know him personally, or much about him. Some people I trust have described him as a little too egotistical for their taste, but I've also heard that he's mellowed in the last couple years.

13. Right..I saw him on my local news right
after I typed that..along with this guy who is to be the new New York Democratic Chair who seemed like a dynamo..I wish I could remember his name! He's a Black guy who has never won state wide election but he campaigned all over and knows the issues. He talked about a "Truth Squad"..of getting the facts out that the repubs are distorting(I liked that).. He even said some of the repubs "talk in code".

Oh, and he wants Andrew Cuomo for the next Gov of New York.

7. "But if the worst I ever did
was send out some nonpolitically(sic) correct e-mails — my God," he added.

....Sounds like he doesn't think he did anything wrong ...just doesn't want to get caught again!!!!

10. Here's some details on what Paladino sent via Steve Benen..
"TEA PARTY FAVE IN NY SENDS RACIST, EXPLICIT EMAILS".... In New York, Republican gubernatorial hopeful Carl Paladino has a habit of generating controversy. He recently insisted, for example, that the Affordable Care Act will be deadlier than the terrorist attacks of 9/11.

But Paladino, a right-wing favorite of the Tea Party, now has an even bigger controversy to deal with.

Carl P. Paladino, a Republican candidate for governor from Buffalo, drew fire on Monday for racist and sexually explicit e-mail messages that a left-leaning Web site claimed he had sent to friends and business associates in recent years.

The messages, which were published on WNYMedia.net, a Web site devoted to politics in western New York, included pornographic images and what appeared to be a video of Africans dancing in traditional dress that was titled "Obama Inauguration Rehearsal."

Another, a picture of a cargo plane crashing into the ground behind a group of black people, was prominently captioned with a common racial epithet for African-Americans.

That last one, sent last summer, shows an airplane landing behind a group of black men. The caption on the email reads, "Holy Sh*t. run ni**ers, run!"

Paladino's campaign manager said the candidate "regrets" some of the messages, but blamed Democrats of trying to "smear" Paladino with emails Paladino sent. (No, I don't understand the argument either.) The far-right Republican yesterday also tried to blame Democrats for drawing attention to his own disgusting messages.

The right-wing candidate is facing some GOP primary challengers, but Paladino has positioned himself to their right, and claims to be the only gubernatorial hopeful who "agrees 100 percent with conservative values." Of course, "values" is subjective -- Paladino, who is married, fathered a child with his mistress in the '90s.

Nevertheless, the emails should effectively drive Paladino off the political stage. The head of New York's Democratic Party said in a statement that the emails "disqualify him completely from public service."

11. Paladino made most of his fortune through government contracts!
And now he has the balls to run as an anti-government Tea Bagger? Right-wing hypocrisy really knows no bounds!
