A few minutes ago I heard the tail end of what seemed to be a Cal Thomas commentary. It seemed that Thomas was quoting Douglas Holtz-Eakin who had recently spoken to the Washington Times. Eakin was claiming that under the Obama Administration only the government spending was increasing. It seems the Eakin information came from an article in the Washington Times titled "Income Falls 3.2% During Obama Term". Thomas ended his commentary by saying that President Obama was a "spread the wealth around socialist" and that "government could spend it way into recovery".
Even if Eakin was right, I would not be surprised if he were not, the main reason why the government is spending more money then private companies is that this country is coming out of major recession. Of course businesses would not be spending money while they are in a major recession. In addition, I would imagine that incomes would fall during a recession.
It is just crazy what some of these Republicans are saying. In addition, it is ridiculous that they did not say these things during the Bush Administration. President Bush spent eight years wasting money. Since the Democratic Party took control of Congress wasteful spending has gone down. Finally, for the third year in a row the biggest wasteful spender is a Repubulican.
