Poor Sales, Plummeting Stock Price Plague Left Behind Games
Edited on Tue Jan-30-07 12:59 PM by IanDB1
Poor Sales, Plummeting Stock Price Plague Left Behind Games

Looks like our public awareness campaign to expose the religious right’s recently released video game, Left Behind: Eternal Forces, was a success.

You’ll remember that our efforts garnered a great deal of national media attention:

* Front page article in the San Francisco Chronicle;
* Stories on CNN’s American Morning, ABC World News, and Canadian TV;
* A live debate with religious right leader Jay Sekulow on CNBC;
* Articles written by the Associated Press, Reuters, Boston Globe, and UPI;

Just to name a few….

Now, not only do media reports coming out of Southern California reveal that the game has received mediocre sales, but a simple look at Left Behind Games Inc (LFBG) stock performance — in the words of DefCon advisory board member and Christian Alliance for Progress director Rev. Tim Simpson “you didn’t think this was a ministry, did you?” — reveals over an 80% drop in the stock’s price since the game was released in November.

More evidence the backlash against the religious right is growing. Their intolerant agenda is dangerous, and the American people know it.

And I, for one, am doing my part by visiting Target and Wal-Mart and hiding their copies of the "Left Behind" games in the deep, dark recesses of the stores.

1. Good. It couldn't happen to a more deserving group. I go to rummage
sale and buy any Left Behind junk so I can throw it in the garbage.

and I would do the same with Christian book stores.

I am glad that the recent books outing Bush's insincerity towards the Christian right have knocked the wind out of the sails of the whole movement manipulating the millions of believers.

7. Violence is only okay in books
You know, like in the Bible. Once it is brought to life, on film or animated, it becomes bad.

Can you imagine what would happen if someone made a movie or a game that recreated all of the violence in the Bible? The same people who read these books would try to ban it.

10. You know, that gives me a great idea!
How about we create a game that re-creates famous biblical battles and catastrophes.

That includes the ones where Gawd says to smash the heads of babies against the rocks.

Psalm 137:9 Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.
http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/ps/137.html

A whole game where all you do is either:

1) Carry-out divinely ordered massacres, slaughters, and various misdeeds.
2) Try and survive various divine retributions-- for example, get your family out of Sodom and Gomorrah before Gawd nukes the city... and then get drunk and pass out while your daughters fuck you! (Don't blame ME, it's in the damn BIBLE!) Gen 19:30-38

Lot and his daughters camp out in a cave for a while. The daughters get their "just and righteous" father drunk, have sexual intercourse with him, and each conceives and bears a son (wouldn't you know it!). Just another wholesome family values Bible story.
