If you want to get inside the mind of a tea party type, here's my mother. She's not a tea party protester, but she's as good as. This is from a recent email to me:
Glen Beck many years ago declared that we were in a very bad way especially in the housing industry and it was about to blow up in our face. Whether you like his crying and the emotion he portrays in his voice when speaking on certain topics or not, like Ross Perot, you have to get past the looks and affectations and listen to the message. His topics appear to be thoroughly presented with facts and experts to back them up, and I have had little argument with what I have heard. I hope that’s what the Tea Party participants are doing. After listening to several different news presentations on Fox, I believe each has its own personality. I liked Bret Hume the best and I’m sorry he is no longer on Fox except as a commentator. I LOVE Charles Krachammer and sometimes record the hour he appears just to fast forward to his words of wisdom. I compare Charles’ looks to those of Ross Perot. Ross could not have won. Too little hair and kindly described as looking like an Elf.
If you can get past Bill O’Reilly’s ego, and I have caught him in some misstatements and really don’t like much of what he does, I think they are a much better group of reporters to listen to than most other media.
As far as the Tea party people, I have listened to various leaders and participants of the Tea Party who call into the Talk shows ( I listen to Talk shows in my car only because I can only take them in short spurts), and they seem like sensible, intelligent, hard working, value driven people.
I’m guessing they listen to Fox because they hear what they believe to be the full story pro and con. I don’t believe they are racist, and I don’t believe they are seditious or a terrorist organization. Just a group of decent citizens who are tired of debt with which my great great grandchildren will be saddled, 49% of Americans not paying taxes, and big government which has not done a very good job with any of its giveaway programs.
If you had asked me for the most intelligent of the Talk Show host and the one I think tells the truth and has the biggest audience, I would have recommended Michael Savage. Glen Beck is too much of a showman for me.
