Last December I broke the story that Engle was probably taking TheCall to Uganda. Since then, plans for the event have firmed up and gay rights groups are scrambling to gather opposition to TheCall Founder Lou Engle's plan to to stage, on May 2nd, one of his antigay, sexual purity obsessed mass prayer rallies at the Makerere University Sports Field in Kampala, Uganda's capital, which will call upon God to save the nation from "witchcraft," human sacrifice, and homosexuality.

Meanwhile, a looming bill before Uganda's Parliament threatens to allow the execution of gay Ugandans and turn the nation into an Orwellian antigay police state in which in citizens would be required to report homosexual activity to the police or face three years in jail.

Given Engle’s horrific timing it’s hard to interpret his planned event as anything but intentional incitement of antigay hatred in Uganda, already at a near-fever pitch.

This is truly scary. The havoc he may bring about in Uganda could be horrific. This needs to be known far and wide, and his adherents and GOP friends tied to it.
